During training he is steady on point and wing. He has been introduced to the gun. We have not shot a bird for him yet, so I know he needs work on retrieve. I want to get him out on some chukar and/or pheasant in a less controlled environment. There are 3 of us - my brother and I in Ohio and our friend in PA - who would be involved in this hunt. We are all retired old farts with Dick (from PA) being a very experienced hunter with my brother and I less so; particularly on birds. Just looking for information at this point. Was thinking 1/2 a day maybe 10 - 15 birds? I was going to concentrate on the dog with Dick and brother Scott doing the shooting. I don't know if that is too many birds for a first time out in the field for the dog. I would like to get out before the end of April so I know what to work on over the summer. Any thoughts or suggestions on how to proceed? Thanks.
